Jack - Thanks for the link. I've been following this since it was announced last week. The article describes the dogfight between perfmon and the new upstart. Perfctr isn't mentioned because it isn't in the running for kernel inclusion. Too bad they didn't mention that perfmon's been part of the Itanium linux kernel since day one...
