Hello, I have released a new version of the 2.6.28 perfmon2 kernel patch. It addresses several issues with the previous patch and also general perfmon2 issues. There are no new features. This patch supersedes the previous patch posted on 01/21/2009.
Kernel changes: - fix several X86 NMI related bugs - fix AMD IBS NMI support (was using wrong interrupt vector) - fix Intel Nehalem LBR support (It is now working!) - change PMU acquisition logic to avoid unitialized data structures - upon acquisition (first user), PMU is stopped. Avoids problems with PMU already active when perfmon gets control I strongly recommend that people update to this version of the patch for 2.6.28. There is also a new version of libpfm, v3.8, it includes several useful updates: - support for AMD Shanghai processor (Robert Richter) - support for AMD Istanbul processor (Robert Richter) - Cray X2 event table updates - Intel Nehalem event table bug fixes (BR_INST_RETIRED) - Intel Nehalem code bug fixes for various sanity checks - Makefile install target enhancements (Robert Richter) - added a perfmon2 example to demonstrate Intel Nehalem LBR usage Finally, there is also a new version of pfmon, v3.8. No new major features: - MIPS compilation fixes (Vince Weaver) - MIPS R12k support (Vince Weaver) - various bug fixes in per-thread mode - event listing updates to handle AMD64 (Robert Richter) As usual, everything is available from the SourceForget.net web site at: http://perfmon2.sf.net Thanks to all the contributors. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Open Source Business Conference (OSBC), March 24-25, 2009, San Francisco, CA -OSBC tackles the biggest issue in open source: Open Sourcing the Enterprise -Strategies to boost innovation and cut costs with open source participation -Receive a $600 discount off the registration fee with the source code: SFAD http://p.sf.net/sfu/XcvMzF8H _______________________________________________ perfmon2-devel mailing list perfmon2-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/perfmon2-devel
