Hi all: Now I'm using a dual-core Itanium2 processor with perfmon kernel 2.81, pfmlib and pfmon V3.7. I have used pfmon3.2 with kernel 2.0 for long time. I updated the perfmon kernel to 2.81 recently and now I get problems. When I count for more than 6 events with pfmon, I get the error message "cannot write PMCs: Invalid argument". If the number of events is less than or equal to 6, pfmon works well.
I also get the dmessage as "perfmon: perfmon: Errata 121 PMD10/PMD15 cannot be used to overflowwhen threads on on" when that error occurs. Note that Montecito processor has 12 PMUs. Here's some infomations about my system may be useful: ------------------------------------------------------ detected host CPUs: 4-way 1600MHz/9.0MB Dual-Core Itanium 2 (Montecito, rev 7) detected PMU model: dual-core Itanium 2 max counters/set: 12 supported PMU models: [Itanium] [Itanium2] [dual-core Itanium 2] [generic IA-64] supported sampling modules: [inst-hist] [detailed] [compact] [raw] [dear-hist] pfmlib version: 3.7 kernel perfmon version: 2.81 kernel clock resolution: 4000000ns (250Hz) host kernel architecture: ia64 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ _______________________________________________ perfmon2-devel mailing list perfmon2-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/perfmon2-devel
