We're looking for a little quick guidance.

We've got a brand new (arrived yesterday) dual Nelalem (Gainestown)
blade and are trying to bring up perfmon 2 or 3 on it.

The initial attempt was to build as a module. We used the released
/sys/kernel/perfmon/version 2.82. We're running libpfm-3.8 with pfmon-3.8.

We see:

[r...@hoss linux-2.6.28.9]# /sbin/modprobe perfmon_intel_nhm
[r...@hoss linux-2.6.28.9]# pfmon -I
   <<no output produced>>

Concurrent with writing this message, we're rebuilding with perfmon
built in, rather than a module, in case that's the issue.
(Our other Nehalem was built this way.) If this doesn't work,
we'll try the development version out of the GIT repository.

Another possibility is that we're out beyond the bleeding edge on
this hardware.

This is with a stock 2.6.28 kernel from kernel.org.
