It's not because the core kernel supports Barcelona that the perfmon version
for that core supports it.
I checked and Barcelona support appeared in the perfmon patch for 2.6.25.
Your best shot is to use 2.6.28.
Does anyone know how to work perfmon2 on Barcelona?
Use perfmon for 2.6.25 or later.
