Hi, I was planning to use IBS (Instruction-based sampling) on an Opteron cluster that we have in our University. And had some questions about setting it up.
The cluster has a collection of dual core and quad core Opteron processors. Model types are: Dual Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 180 Quad-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2354 The current kernel version is 2.6.25.11. The machine has the perfctr and PAPI library installed over it. So I as understand I still need to install the perfmon kernel patch. I wanted to know if the above processors have support for IBS, and what patch I have to install for the kernel to support it.
