Hi, Recent Linux kernel has its own performance monitoring support, i.e., perf_events. You don't have to patch kernel anymore. A userland tool `perf` can be used to do performance monitoring.
See https://perf.wiki.kernel.org/ . > As far as I know, in order to install perfmon2 I should use the patch: > > perfmon-new-base-090219 perfmon2 is different from perf_events. perfmon2 needs a patched kernel, perf_event is supported by kernel natively. perfmon2 is no longer developed, use perf_event instead. > On the other hand, I've been trying to get libpfm4 from git: > > $ git clone git://perfmon2.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/perfmon2/libpfm4 libpfm4 leverages perf_events, it is different from previous libpfmX which uses patched linux kernel.
