I realize that this is probably a bit of an odd place to ask this,
but I've not been able to find much reference to it anywhere else.
Does anyone know if the performance counters on Opterons (which ever
flavor) and Core 2 Duos are per socket (i.e. there are 4 on the
physical package that gets shipped to me) or 4 per core (meaning a
total of 16 on a quad core processor)? I've been working on getting
perfmon and kernel patches compiled so I can figure this out, but due
to a strange set of circumstances, hadn't gotten anything working
until yesterday.
