To request a PMD to be monitored, one have to write to the PMD before
the PMU is started. See perfmon_rw.c:

                 * it is not possible to read a PMD which was not requested:
                 *      - explicitly written via pfm_write_pmds()
                 * - provided as a reg_smpl_pmds[] to another PMD during
                 *        pfm_write_pmds()
                 *

However, with commit id d9899320399f8055ed79863d037dc3d9d37bbe66, this
is no longer possible for read only PMDs. Is there a another way of
marking a RO PMD?

Thanks,

-Robert
