perkeep has no specific dedupe feature. Identical files are stored once, basically. With some overhead. If you overwrite files, you'd better purge, lest you get duplicated data. with perkeep as your files frontend, rewriting tags into files isn't strictly needed. But if it's MP3s I feel your pain.
