I use ancestry.co.uk, and quite like it. I imagine the ancestry.com
interface is similar.

If it's a tree you own, you can download it in GEDCOM format as follows:

1) From the home page, click on the "Family Trees" button. This should
bring up a page showing trees you have access to, with the "My Trees"
tab selected.
2) Click the "Manage Tree" link beneath the tree you want to download.
3) You should now see a page headed "Tree Info" for your selected tree.
4) Now hit the "Export tree" button, and wait patiently.
5) When the tree is ready for download, you'll see a "Download your
GEDCOM file" button appear. This is what you need.

I don't know if there's a way to download a tree that you don't own.

Hope this helps,

Stephen
