Yes,

I have been avoiding to ask that question because I am scared for the
answer. So if the regex engine is called from different threads, things will
go wrong. Does this error exist on Win32 with fork emulation aswell? Is it
possible to fix by a big ugly mutex around it? I tried searching p5p about
it but didn't find anything relevant.

With my rather limited knowledge of perlinternals I don't have a clue about
the regex engine.
