i have tried to compile it with CYGWIN , that means i use gcc.
no visual studio here :(

and i'm not gonna buy one just get perl working, i tried to follow the
instructions in perl 5.8.0 documentation but the thing didn't compile :(

if anyone has successfully built it, maybe he can describe what he did
choose
and did not choose during the compilation ?
