This reminds me of a discussion about a year ago about p5p or dbi-dev. Something about not being able to require threads(::shared) conditionally at run-time. Nope. That's not it. In fact, the more I think of this, I think this came up when attempting to port DBI to threads. So I guess dbi-dev would be the one to check...
