That sounds like a good idea, I'm now trying to implement it in Vemail. Some form of web proxy caching (and perhaps LDAP replication) might be needed for large scale environments, but just having this functionality is more important for me at this point. I'm still pondering the uses of 'annotated attribute values', for things like: preferred attribute value indication, RDN changes, triggers, binary data labels (perhaps with auto ID's), time stamping, etc. It all seems a bit complex to implement though (in an LDAP server).
