And yes, I realize that the search filter isn't in the code listing I provided earlier but it is there...

I'm running this on a vanilla OS X installation. Hmm - I think I found the problem. I'd installed the perl-ldap libraries a long time ago, and apparently one of the OS upgrades appears to have broken a part of it. Reinstalling the library appears to have corrected the problem. Interesting since all of the other regular LDAP functionality still worked perfectly, it was just the LDIF functions that were broken...
