Using Net::LDAP::Control::PersistentSearch, I was able to write a nifty
persistent search tool that works like a champ with Novell eDirectory.
However, it fails miserably with OpenLDAP 2.3.19 on SLES10. The problem
appears to be on the OpenLDAP side. It actually becomes unresponsive
after a persistent search is started and a modification is done. Simple
base level searches never return. This appears to be the reason that I
can't get syncrepl with the refreshandPersist option to work.
I'm trying to track down more up to date OpenLDAP rpms for SLES10. My
guess is this is just a bug with the .19 version. Have others run into a
similar problem and then got it working with a later version?
openldap-software@openldap.org
would be the correct place to post this. Of course, all the mailing lists
related to openldap are quite clearly noted on the OpenLDAP website. Why
didn't you just start there?
In any case, 2.3.19 is rather dated at this point. I'd suggest getting
2.3.31 and re-trying there. I'll note that persistent searches work just
fine for me with OpenLDAP, on all the releases I've run, although I've not
used a control for them -- I simply keep the connection open.
