Kurt, do try using \# when connecting. Luckily, since you are also
using AD you can use the "domain\samaccountname" or "upn" instead of the
DN to authenticate as well.

Subject: Escaping out Hashs in DN?

I'm trying to bind using this DN to my active directory server

cn=#service_account,ou=Service
Admins,ou=Administrators,dc=MYDOMAIN,dc=com'

And seem to be getting authentication failed because of the # at the
beginning of the cn for this user. Should I be escaping it somehow?
When I create a new account in AD that doesn't have the leading #, it
works fine....
