thanks for the report. I consider it a regression against 0.44's behaviour, and I think I have a fix for it. Would you mind to try the patch from my github repository of perl-ldap at https://github.com/marschap/perl- ldap/commit/c98beceee975166b9db97a8c97e20281490e491a In my (short & preliminary) tests the patch fixed the issue.
