This patch (at least the watcher.c part) is what I came up with some
time after I wrote my mail, and it worked.

Of course, I just verified that your patch as a whole also works
(testsuite runs through on both Event and the broken user, Coro).
Any chances on a 0.89 before next month (I'll give a talk about this
then)? :)
(And, BTW, I think Event could easily have a version bump to 1.0, just to
signify that it's really mature and has a stable API. No, I don't ask for
it, as I don't always follow version number jumping schemes either)
