You might want to adopt the habit of checking
return values of certain calls and try the
$fh = mvsopen() or die "Could not mvsopen: $!";
idiom. Another thing to try is to single quote the
data set member, and only import from OS390::Stdio
the routines that you intend to actually use, that is
try:
#!/usr/local/bin/perl
use OS390::Stdio qw(getname mvsopen);
# Please note carefully the ' characters below
$fh = mvsopen("'//KT0574.PR.CNTL(ALIAS)'","r")
or die "Could not mvsopen: $!;
print "name=$fh end\n";
$name = getname($fh);
$line = <$fh>;
print "line=$line";

It looks like you had already installed OS390::Stdio version 0.003
into a statically linked perl 5.6.1. In order to upgrade modules you
should probably start by rebuilding perl from scratch (this is a big
disadvantage of static linking unfortunately).

thanks for your help. We have reinstalled the modules and got by test the

Could you tell us from where and which version the perl and it's OS390
stdio
and LWP modules should be downloaded, so that they can work together.
