I've been out of the loop for a bit as the company has relocated us to London
and life has been a bit hectic.  Sorry 'bout that.

The TAP is not stored by default.  I was planning to at one point but the
parser is designed to support infinite streams and storing the TAP then
becomes rather problematic.  However, even though infinite streams are
trivial, I don't know of anyone who's actually using them (they'd be useful,
though).
