ack outputs line numbers by default. If you're interested in Emacs integration, see: http://perladvent.pm.org/2006/5/ (Search for "Emacs".) Note that this is a cut-and-paste-and-modify of an existing XEmacs Elisp code. I couldn't figure out a better way to do it.
