Two items:
1. Many people have expressed the dislike for HTML formatted email. I know
people that might use a UNIX based mail client like Pine or something might
not be able to view the html. And, I do know load time is a factor,
especially with images. However, our users use email clients or web
clients like excite, hotmail, aol, and Outlook. It seems to me that all of
these programs by default accept HTML unless they change that option. Is
this true?
2. We have a huge list of people in our database that use our service. 85%
of the people (or more) probably have a hard enough time just figuring out
how to send email. So I wouldn't count on them knowing if they support HTML
email or not, never mind having a preference for one over the other. Our
Marketing group has found that HTML email has a better response rate(from
where I don't know) so that is why they are pushing to get HTML emails
rolling.
Many thanks to all of you for your responses.
