[Perl-unix-users] Perl - Mysql Question ???

Dear All

 

The ad serving software needs to be able to serve different sizes of banner ads and keep track of clicks and impressions. It needs to have logins for the admin to set up campaigns, a login for advertisers and a login for website owners(publishers) to be able to check their stats(namely clicks and impressions). The ad serving software will be under a very heavy load, in this case around 5-10 Million daily impressions and therefore it needs to be able to track clicks and impressions without any database corruptions. Currently the script that we are using has most of the features that we need however it is using Mysql and the database gets corrupted on a weekly basis, something that we certainly can't stand.

 

The current ad serving software is written in Perl and is using Mysql database however it seems that Mysql is not able to handle hight traffic, hence our need for a new solution. The software is being run on a Linux 7.0 Pentium 3 850MHZ with 1GB RAM.

 

Let me know what you suggest in terms of the language and the database to use to be able to handle our current load and explain why you think that is the right choice.
