Hello Ladies and Gentlemen!
I don't know if the following is even possible, but if it is,
I hope someone can show me the way.
If you place a mailto: link in a form in html, when the person
clicks the submit button, the browser uses their default email
application to send the email to the address in the form.
To date, this is how I have my autoresponders set up on site.
Unfortunately, with so many spam bots browsing my site, I am
being avalanched with garbage through my autoresponder
listings.
What I want to do is to set up a form that handles the
autoresponders for me without exposing the addy's to the
spam bots. This is the easy part.
The part I need help with is I do not want to have to force
people to type in their email address to receive these mailings.
Is there any way at all to capture their default email address
without asking for it for the autoreponder?
If I went straight to the script with what I currently know,
then they would have to take an additional effort to reduce
my workload.
I want the process to be painless for them, so if I cannot
find a way to do this, I will maintain my exposure to the
spambots for the benefit of my site's visitors.
Thanks.
Bill Platt
