I do it all the time... be warned netdom that comes with windows nt resource
kit and netdom that comes with win2k resource kit have a little diffrent
syntax or something... i know there is some quirkyness i just cant remember
what. regardless they should work and add machine accounts to the samba pdc
or an nt pdc. if not you may have to create the machine account on the samba
domain with smbpasswd... i dont remember the syntax exatly but try smbpasswd
--help and it should feed you the switch to create machine accounts.

good luck

Suppose you want a computer named Fido to be a member of a domain named
Bowsers. Log on to any NT machine that has the resource kit. Open a command
prompt, and type
netdom /domain:bowsers member \\fido /joindomain

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q150493How To Join a
Domain From the Command Line (Q150493)You may run the following command (in
a single line):
NETDOM /Domain:MYDOMAIN /user:adminuser /password:apassword MEMBER
MYCOMPUTER /JOINDOMAIN

Subject: Adding a Win-Box to a SAMBA-Domain
Date: Thu, 07 Feb 2002 12:41:16 +0100

Hi all.

Is there any simple way to add a Win-Box to a (Samba)Domain without
any interaction from a user/admin sitting in front of the box?
(The Box is known in the domain)

I saw a thread like this before, and I tried to modify the script
posted there, but it didn't work.

Thanks in advance for any help and hints!

Alex

The amount of damage I have personally seen on a XFS fs was caused by
something between the keyboard and chair. (eg. me)
