Hi List

Has anyone worked on a Print  Audit and Monitoring system?

The current Print Monitoring System, I am working on, reads the eventlog from the Print server and extracts, Print events, and inserts the records in a formatted excel sheet. Thereafter, on a weekly basis, I run my accounting script, which does consolidation and ofcourse, reporting actions, if any.

Now, I am on a look with a different system, for two reasons:

1> What if I have a IP Printing system in my Enterprise, and want to Probably, use SNMP, to query HP Laserjet(JetDirect) to send status when print jobs are submitted.

2> If I am using a Win32 Print server, I cannot access non-win32 print jobs, like DOS prints, how to take care of them?

The idea I am playing on, is can I somehow tap the Win32-Spooler somehow, and control it to send status and also, block users, if I want to?

Well, thats just an idea, I am playing on it. Your suggestions are welcome!

Looking forward

Thanks

Yogi
