Thanks for the suggestion to try Win32::FileOp, the function Substed, however it requires NT also. Guess I'm dead. Should I just spin thru the alphabet using file test and type the drive? All local drives must be identifed with one of 26 letters..... correct? Thanks again for the help. hs
