Under Windows 2000, which I was using until last week, it worked fine;
hitting Enter in the textfield moved to the next line.

This week, the machines in my office got upgraded to XP, and now
hitting Enter in the textfield does absolutely nothing. I can get to
a new line by hitting CTRL-Enter, but since data entry is being done
with a barcode scanner which can't be reprogrammed to send Ctrl-Enter
(it needs to remain compatible with the rest of the software we're
using), I'm kind of stuck.

Hummm - do you know if this is a generic behaviour change with XP? If not, then it must be a win32-gui bug of some description.

Is there any way to get a fully-functional multiline textfield without
having to give up the benefits of a dialogui?

Could you use the Change event of the text field?

Cheers,

jez.
