Hello out there!

I've proof-read this post, and feel that I may be asking a lot of
questions. I don't mean to. I'm just trying to point out that I have not
found really anything yet that has helped me to answer even the most
basic questions. I'm perfectly willing to help in putting together a
Win32::GUI faq, if this is what's needed. Let me know. And on with the
message...

I have been trying to get info on Win32::GUI, but have not been able to
get a clear picture of what's going on. I try different search engines,
but there doesn't seem to be one central site which might answer some of
my most basic questions:

What's the current release/build number, and what versions of perl does
it run under? I see 220, 3**, 4something,...

Is there really a ppm-installable package out there? If so, how do I
install it? Where do I find it? Why isn't it on ActiveState? Why isn't
Win32::GUI on cpan? I've tried the docs for ppm, but I don't know the
commands to make it work. (Should I be giving an alternate repository on
the command line?) I've tried just dropping the files where I think they
should go, but I always get a Parsing Exception. (I'm not yet slick
enough to attempt to compile it.)

Is there a Win32::GUI faq? If not, I'll be happy to make one and post it
someplace, if people will send me questions and answers to these and
other questions that they feel should be included in such a doc.

Is there an official or unofficial Win32::GUI homepage? All I get is the
dada page/s from Italy(?), and they talk about build 220, compiled in
1997. I've seen many refs and docs for more recent builds. I suspect
that these resources (central info repositories) do not exist. If that's
the case, I'll be happy to help in their creation. Just let me know how.

Oh, I did try to look into the archives of this list, but gave up pretty
quickly, since they're in a fairly user-unfriendly format, I think. (And
the search didn't seem to work the way I expected it to.) If you think
that the interface could be improved, that's something I may be willing
to work on as well... but have to be pretty non-committal about it at
this moment.

Any help out there for these super-newbie issues?

Thanks,

James Tolley
