How can you set the check state (checked, not checked) of a ListView item for a ListView that has checkboxes enabled?

 

How can you prevent an item's image from being highlighted when the item is selected?

     or as a last resort...Can highlighting be turned off?

 

How can you display an image to an item's subitem?
