Can't you send a text msg via email to a phone? Got his from AT&T's web
site.

SENDING A TEXT MESSAGE FROM YOUR PC TO A WIRELESS PHONE...

>From Internet e-mail:

Address the e-mail to the 10-digit wireless phone number followed by
@mobile.att.net. For example, if the phone's number is 206.123.4567, then
the e-mail address is: 2061234567@ mobile.att.net.

Just use an existing mailer module from CPAN or take a look at Jenda's
mailer here at:

hth,

Jim

Subject: Using Perl to send Text messaging to Mobile Phone

> I looked on Activestate site and found a Python script, but nothing from
Perl. Also looked on CPAN, but nothing stood out or I am using the wrong
words in search.

> Anyone done it? I am attempting to go to ATT WireLess. I have a running
application, but want to have a separate process checking that it is up and
working. If it goes down, I want to send a text message to my phone.
