(2) is the one I use - without any problems at all. It doesn't use *any* dll
afaict.

C:\WINNT\system32>set path=

C:\WINNT\system32>path
PATH=(null)

C:\WINNT\system32>D:

D:\>cd \tar

D:\tar>tar --version
GNU tar version 1.11.2

 Which dll was missing ? What was the command that caused the "missing dll"
message ?
