Subject: Re: regenerating AS perl html docs
Now I see what happened. Somebody at ActiveState thought they would be cute
by replacing the old TOC with a DHTML expansion menu. Well let me tell ya,
it was not a good idea. I use Netscape 4.8 and the entire user guide does
not work. No warning, no change notes, no options to leave it be. It works
with Netscape 7 but I don't use that browser much and even if I did, *I hate
expansion menus*. It was very handy to see every module in one big list and
then just click on what I wanted. Now everything is hidden behind little
plus signs and u have to click endlessly to get at what u want. Let's even
say that it did work in my normal browser. Still no good because I
frequently leave javascript turned off! Mainly to protect myself from junk
code written by lazy people (ahem). How are people supposed to read the
guide without javascript? And what about all the lynx users? Well I guess
they're just screwed because they're not "with" it. I guess I'm not "with"
it. This is crap. If I don't hear from somebody at ActiveState about a
remedy for this soon I'll have no choice except to go back to build 811. I
guess no more upgrades for me. ActiveState only wants to do buisness with
"cool", "hip", "with it" people now...
If anyone else agrees with me let ur voice be heard.
Long live Firefox.
Death to the new TOC at ActiveState.
You'd think they'd be more careful.
