Hyvää kaksikymmenvuotispäivää Perl. The above is in Finnish. Which reminds me, I took a look at the Perl 1 man pages and source code the other day at: <http://dev.perl.org/perl1/dist/> and was delighted to find out that even V1 was recognizably Perl with a lot of the same basic scalar, hash and array functions we have today. A quick glance of the source revealed that it is quite readable to a relative C newbie, too, or at least the bits I examined were.
Ah, I've only been using Perl since 5.8 myself for about two years now. I do program almost exclusively in Perl mostly recreationally. It is a great lang for the file processing and text parsing I routinely do, as well as easy Win32 programming thanks to all the wonderful modules in the Win32::* namespace and the ease of use of PPM. -- With kind regards Veli-Pekka Tätilä ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Accessibility, game music, synthesizers and programming: http://www.student.oulu.fi/~vtatila Howard Maher wrote: <snip> > I think that we all should take a moment to celebrate Perl's 20th birthday > today... _______________________________________________ Perl-Win32-Users mailing list Perl-Win32-Users@listserv.ActiveState.com To unsubscribe: http://listserv.ActiveState.com/mailman/mysubs
