That sounds heartening - I'll wait til tomorrow, and if I haven't received
any "Danger, Will Robinson" messages, I'll go ahead with it.
I actually started to install the Server 2008 SDK but two things made me
nervous (so I aborted):

1) The installation started without having asked me where I wanted things
installed. I have a vague recollection that it was the same with the 2003
version (and that one gets to nominate the location later on during the
installation process) - but it bothered me that I might be about to clobber
critical pieces (if not the whole lot) of my 2003 installation.

2) I wasn't even sure that it was the x64 version I was about to install.
(How do you tell ?) Earlier on in the day I had installed VC++ 2008,
believing it to be an x64 version as many of the components were
specifically labelled "x64" - only to discover it was a 32-bit compiler
after all. At least, I'm damned if I can get it to work with 64-bit perls,
though it works fine with 32-bit perls.

Yes - I have 32-bit VC7.0 (and now, VC 2008, as mentioned above) as well as
MinGW - all environments are set up by batch scripts.

I'll keep an eye out for that sort of thing.

Thanks, Steve. Appreciated.

Cheers,
