First thing, if you're running IIS with NT Challenge Response authentication
enabled, then the script runs with the permission of the browsing user, NOT the
web server user, and if the access file is on another computer then you won't be
able to see it at all - see

Other than that, go to http://www.sysinternals.com/ and grab a copy of File
Monitor and Registry Monitor.
Run both of those on the server and watch what file accesses and registry
accesses are done by which processes when you make the request.

Also, goto the ODBC control panel, turn on ODBC logging - be warned this will
make ODBC run about 10 to 20 times slower than normal (you'll hear it hammer the
hard disk) so remember to turn it off after you've done your test.

Examine the 3 logs, and see if you can spot what's happening....
