I remember seeing an example in Perl Cookbook. I think in *nix environement
this can be as easy as a pipe.
Have a look under the file handles section...

Subject: URL as a filehandle??
Hello,
Is it possible to get the output of a dynamically generated web page
for use as if it were an actual file?
For example, if I have a Cold Fusion or ASP page that pulls data from a
DB and displays it to the browser as | delimited, can a remote PERL script
read that output in as if it were opening a text file?
Thanks in advance!
