It's true that there seem to be some students that try to get homework assignments answered. Maybe this is the reason for not response to trivial questions.

You miss an alternative explanation - that no-one subscribed to this mailing list knows the answer to the specific problem.
I observe that you don't answer the specific question. I've not answered it because I don't know the answer, and I assume that you don't answer for the same reason.
