commit 356230c9eb15a8a6c596eec2db1c787ccdc524ea
Author: Craig A. Berry <[email protected]>
Date: Wed Apr 10 22:25:35 2013 -0500

    Fix post-install instructions in README.vms.

perl_setup.com gets installed, so we might as well run it from
where we have it rather than copying it somewhere.

And we really shouldn't be recommending putting things in sys$share,
    even as a second choice.

-Copy PERL_SETUP.COM to a place accessible to your perl users.
+Installation will copy F<PERL_SETUP.COM> to the root of your installation
+tree. If you want to give everyone on the system access to Perl (and you
+have, for example, installed to F<dsa0:[utils.perl_root]>) then add a line
+that reads:

-For example:
+ $ @dsa0:[utils.perl_root]perl_setup

- COPY PERL_SETUP.COM SYS$STARTUP:>
-
-If you want to have everyone on the system have access to perl
-then add a line that reads
-
- $ @sys$startup:perl_setup
-
-to F<SYS$MANAGER:SYLOGIN.COM>.
+to F<SYS$MANAGER:SYLOGIN.COM>. Or for your own use only, simply place
+that line in F<SYS$LOGIN:LOGIN.COM>.

Two alternatives to the foreign symbol would be to install PERL into
DCLTABLES.EXE (Check out the section "Installing Perl into DCLTABLES
(optional)" for more information), or put the image in a
 directory that's in your DCL$PATH.

-An alternative to having F<PERL_SETUP.COM> define the PERLSHR logical name
-is to simply copy it into the system shareable library directory with:
-
- copy perl_root:[000000]perlshr.exe sys$share:
-
See also the "INSTALLing images (optional)" section.
