I've applied Jarkko's `fix' for POSIX machines not being POSIX after all on
signals, and I have extended Steve Hay's patch 25209:

25210 made all tests on AIX 5.2.0.0 pass.

IMHO, we're *very* close to a possible snapshot. If we can make cygwin and
win32 happy again, as they were about two weeks ago, a new snapshot might
encourage people to do even more testing
