I AM SO SICK OF THREADING BUGS!!!  BLARHGAGHAGHAHGAH!  I don't even USE
THREADS and I seem to find all the bugs!!  ARGH!!!

It would seem you've uncovered a threading bug in 5.8.5 on Cygwin.  You
should probably report this to p5p via perlbug.

I'd need to see the Makefile's in order to figure out what's going on here.
