James, I've been seeing this problem off and on for over a month. As you've noticed, it's rather intermittent, however, when the problem occurs it persists for up to couple of hours. I've also seen that this is platform independent, and so guessed that the problem existed at the server end (maybe server load?). Unfortunately, I've got nothing consistent enough to be able to pinpoint where the issue is.
