very impressive paper. my recent proposal for a multi-queue malloc
system has some of the ideas of this but nowhere nearly as fully
developed. if we can drop in the libumem implementation directly, i
think it will be a major win. it doesn't look too difficult for us to
write our own version (with some parrot centric features maybe). the
thread (vs. cpu) support looks very good too. i like how they get
constant or linear time results.
