It's helpful, though in this case it's something we've been batting
around for a year and a half, more or less. (Need to get a good
search engine link on the archives)
Doing a TIL version of the bytecode is on the list, and has been
since nearly the beginning. The JIT does pretty much this in the
cases of ops it's not doing a body substitution on. There's less of a
huge speedup, but it's still pretty noticeable.
