I am considering adding PIR translations (and possibly other language translations) of the OpenGL Programming Guide ("Red Book") sample code to examples/opengl/ in the Parrot repository. The original C version of this code is under the seemingly free license at the bottom of this message. What do I need to do to handle this properly?
My working assumption is that I can copy the SGI license into a file in the directory named something obvious like "ORIGINAL_LICENSE", and head each one of my files with a notice that says: =head1 COPYRIGHT This file is a translation of sample code Copyright (c) 1993-2003, Silicon Graphics, Inc. For details of the original code's license, please see the file ORIGINAL_LICENSE in this directory. This translation is Copyright (C) 2008 The Perl Foundation. =cut Would this be acceptable? -'f ### ORIGINAL LICENSE FOLLOWS /* * Copyright (c) 1993-2003, Silicon Graphics, Inc. * All Rights Reserved * * Permission to use, copy, modify, and distribute this software for any * purpose and without fee is hereby granted, provided that the above * copyright notice appear in all copies and that both the copyright * notice and this permission notice appear in supporting documentation, * and that the name of Silicon Graphics, Inc. not be used in * advertising or publicity pertaining to distribution of the software * without specific, written prior permission. * * THE MATERIAL EMBODIED ON THIS SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED TO YOU "AS-IS" AND * WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR OTHERWISE, * INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR * FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.
