He is saying he can’t see how these differ from each other:
.doit(1,2,3): { $^a <=> $^b } # okay
+ .doit(1,2,3): { $^a <=> $^b } # okay
Or how these two differ from each other:
+ .doit(1,2,3):{ $^a <=> $^b } # okay
+ .doit(1,2,3):{ $^a <=> $^b } # okay
