The main advantage of wxWidgets (and wxPerl) over Gtk+ is that it is a
(relatively small) wrapper over the native widgets of Microsoft Windows, some
UNIX GUI toolkits (including Gtk+ and Motif) or Mac OS X’s
Carbon/Cocoa/whatever widgets. As a result, with some effort, you can have
100% native look and feel on all systems.
Gtk+ has several advantages over wxWidgets, mainly the fact that it is more
powerful and feature-rich than wxWidgets. One should note that you should use
a good theme for it, as its default theme may not be so attractive, but it
gives you a large choice of themes, and more themes can be created and
shared.

Sometimes you don’t need to be familiar with a better alternative to know that
something sucks. Take Microsoft Word for example.
