Fair enough -- I was just airing my opinion that those two icons looked good favicon'ed as they were (you had them displayed like that on your logo image for a while and I thought they looked good). Interesting you used YouTube as an example, their favicon is quite detailed and the main difference I see between it and their main logo (aside from the reduced number of colours and lack of shininess) is that the words are on top of each other instead of side by side to make the icon square.
